Blik Calendar Widget Help

Problems with Google Calendar Event Syncing.

Your calendar events are synced to www.google.com/calendar by the Android operating system on your phone. This means that any events you create or changes you make on your phone will end up on www.google.com/calendar and any events you create or change on the website will end up on your phone.

Sometimes the syncing mechanism on your phone may stop working though. Usually this will clear up on its own, but there are some steps you may need to take to fix the problem or to just fix it sooner.

The first thing you should look at is to make sure that the Blik Calendar Widget settings are correct so that it shows your calendar events. The calendar database is made up of individual calendars and you can tell Blik to not show specific calendars. By default, Blik shows all calendars. To check Blik's calendar showing settings, follow these steps:

  1. Tap on the center of the row or column layout of the Blik Calendar Widget so that it shows its control bar, then tap on Settings (from the month layout of Blik, just tap on the Gear button in the lower right).
  2. From the Blik Settings Screen, tap on Calendars.
  3. Make sure that any calendars listed on the Calendar screen are checked. One of the calendars is named the same as your gmail account name that you set your phone up with (the one associated with your Google calendar). Make sure this one is checked since it is the main calendar that is synced with www.google.com/calendar.
  4. Press your phone's Back button twice to return to the homesceen.

If Blik is set up to show your calendar and you think that calendar event syncing isn't working, first make sure that calendar syncing is enabled on your phone using the following steps:

  1. Press your phone's Menu button, then tap on Settings.
  2. From the Settings Screen, tap on Accounts & sync.
  3. From the Accounts & Sync Screen, tap on Google.
  4. The checkbox next to Auto-sync should be checked so that your phone can sync the data automatically. If it isn't checked, tap on the checkbox to check it.
  5. The checkbox next to Sync Calendar should also be checked. If it isn't, tap on the checkbox, then press your phone's Back button until you are back at the homescreen. Syncing should start as soon as the checkbox is checked, but it might take a few minutes for everything to sync completely.

If your phone's sync settings were set up correctly and your calendar events still won't sync, you can try clearing the Calendar app's settings. This won't delete any of your calendar events and has been shown to fix the problem where a phone won't sync calendar events. Just follow these steps:these steps:

  1. Press your phone's Menu button, then tap on Settings.
  2. From the Settings Screen, tap on Apps (or Applications).
  3. On older versions of Android, you will be on the Applications Screen...tap on Manage applications.
  4. If the next screen has tabs along the top of it, tap on All. Otherwise swipe from the right to left untill you see All at the top of the screen.
  5. Scroll through the list of applications and tap on Calendar.
  6. On the Calendar Screen, tap the Clear data button. You'll see a message telling you that all of the application's data will be deleted. This won't be deleting any of your calendar events though--it will only delete any Android Calendar app settings that you've made, such as what view it should start in. There aren't a lot of settings, so you'll be able to set them to your liking again when you run it. Tap on the OK button on the message.
  7. Next, press your phone's Back button repeatedly until you get back to the Settings screen. If you end up back at your phone's homescreen, just press the Menu button again and then tap on Settings.
  8. From the Settings Screen, tap on Accounts & sync.
  9. From the Accounts & Sync Screen, tap on Google.
  10. Tap on the Sync Calendar checkbox to uncheck it, then tap on it again to check it again.
  11. Syncing should start by itself right away, but if it doesn't, you can tap on the Sync now button at the bottom of the screen.
  12. Press your phone's Back button until you are back at your phone's homescreen.
  13. The Blik Calendar Widget will update itself automatically or you can tell it to refresh itself immediately. If your calendar events still don't show up in Blik, syncing may still be going on, so wait a few minutes and try again.

If you are still seeing a problem after going through the steps above, it might be because your phone's internal memory is very full which can keep some of the Android syncing from working including the calendar events, but could also include gmail notifications. Uninstalling apps that you don't use or moving them to your phone's memory card will fix the problem.
